[Post 3] Not only pharmacy.

I think it's a taboo to think that pharmaceutical chemists only work in pharmacies. When a pharmaceutical chemist is appointed, it is the first thing that comes to our minds and I think it’s time to put out   that thought because the labor field of a pharmaceutical chemist is very extensive. With the knowledge that the pharmaceutical chemist adopts over the years, they can specialize in different areas such as forensics, analysis laboratories, creating new projects as an independent job, creating investigations, among others. I think it's time to stop thinking that pharmaceutical chemists only work in pharmacies because they really are of great help in other areas, be it in the analysis of samples, in the research of new drugs, in the analysis of substances in the human body, in the creation of new personal hygiene or beauty products, just to name a few. In addition, with the knowledge they are able to detect some symptoms but not at the level of a doctor, so they can...

[Post 7] Changes to my study programme

One of the things that I like about my career are the subjects. In this semester I have subjects like Analitic Chemistry II, Organic Chemestry II, Systems Physiology, Physical Chemistry, among other. This career lasts five and a half years, as long as you don’t fail a subject. Depending of the subject that is failed, one can be delayed half a year or a full tear. The faculty structure is quite broad and comfortable. There are spaces to study in tranquility and it’s good for people who don’t have this space in their homes. The rooms and labs are big and is easy to move between those places. Now that we have online classes, we use very often technology because among this we watch the lessons and seminars, so we must be in constant contact with phone and notebook. Personally, I like how the teachers teach, but in some subjects it is difficult for me to learn some classes, so I have to ask to friends about exercises and questions about the class. I would like the teachers to b...

[Post 6] Time travel to the future

I would like to visit a lot of places, like Madrid, Tokio, Moscu, New York, etc. And the reasons are simples: I would like to know a lot of different cultures from all around the world! I don’t know when I would like to travel to those places because I do not use to think in what I will do after today, but I think that maybe when I finish the career and I have a stable job, and that could take a lot of years, ever decades. I would like to stay there for some time like one or two months, but I don’t know if I could adapt to those places because of the difference of language, cultures and traditions of those cities and Chile. Also, I would miss a lot my house, my dogs and my family, the Chilean food and, as everyone says, there is no place like home. I would also like to visit Chile, the north and south, know the weather and the food that is served in those places, and, obviously, know the beautiful landscapes that only Chile has. I hope one day I could be in those places an...

[Post 8] English language challenges

The truth is that I liked the idea of give a final deadline to submit all works because that allowed us to distribute od a personal way our time between English and other subject that either one considered difficult. This allowed me to focus on subjects that were very difficult for me and I really appreciate it. The use of blogs was fun because with them everyone could put into practice their own English and express our own opinions. I think the aspect of my English that I have to improve is the use of everyday words because they only learn with practice, either speaking with someone who knows English, reading books or articles in English and watching movies with subtitles and not dubbed into Spanish. There is also the pronunciation because there are some words that sound the same, so is hard to me. To be honest, lately I do not use English very much. Before I used to learn from the music I listened to, which was mostly British pop, but now I listen kpop, so my English has n...

[Post 4] Overexploitation in the kpop industry.

Since the 2000’s, the kpop industry has grown impressively, expanding all over the world to all countries. Having bands worldwide known as Girls’ Generation, EXO, NCT, Super Junior, GOT7, BTS, among others, kpop has become a boom. Allthough all that we see are bands and artist “fulfilling their dreams” of being worldwide known, not everything is happiness in the kpop industry. This is because the artists make a hard work, doing tours, concerts and releasing new music, but behind all this there is a not so happy part. It has been seen that behind all this there is a great effort, nevertheless this effort reaches the limits. There are cases of artists in which they are overexploited due to the amount of hour that they are put to train their dances and songs, with little rest time and, moreover, doing diets because they must keep a certain weight. Unfortunately there are known cases where like Krystal from f(x), where the artist fainted in a presentation because of the fatigue ...

[Post 5] My future job

To be honest, I’m not decided about my ideal job, but I have some ideas on what I would like to work on. The labor field of a pharmaceutical chemistry is big, so there are many options to choose from, however, I am indecisive, so I could not choose at this time because I like many of them.   I would like to work in an area where analysis and knowledge are required. Moreover, I like everything related to chemistry and human body, but I’m bad at biology and physiology. At this moment, I think that what I would like to work is in a laboratory, analyzing samples and creating new projects, both drugs, investigations and makeup, among other things. Moreover, I would like a job where you travel a lot, either for investigations or to meet other scientists. I think that traveling the word working on something I like would be great and interesting. Despite all this, I know that the salary would not be the best at the beginning, and that’s why I would like to become a good scienti...

[Post 2] The best concert

Hi everyone! The best concert I went happened on September 8, 2017 and it was 5 Seconds Of Summer (5SOS), my favorite band at that time, and it took place at the Movistar Arena. 5SOS is a small Australian band that rose to fame with their first single "She Looks So Perfect" and for having opened for One Direction. The atmosphere there was great, the excitement and the screaming made it cooler. All the people screaming and singing along with them created a pretty exciting atmosphere. Personally, it felt like I was dreaming, I couldn't believe that I was finally seeing them (I also won the tickets, so it was better). I felt quite complete after it ended because I had finally seen them in the flesh, singing live and I was able to release all my admiration. I didn't take a lot of photos for the excitement so I don't have many memories.
